Braille Metal Marking & Bar Code Part Marking:
Product marking for 90% of Globally-traded goods require a machine-readable part marking or product number in the form of Universal Product Codes (UPC) or European Article Number (EAN) encoded in barcodes. When the part marking or product identification must be either durable or tactile, engraving with DATRON machinining centers is ideal. This includes identification codes made of synthetic resin, 2D codes (such as data matrix code), embossing dies for cardboard packaging and Braille. With DATRON CNC milling machines direct part marking can be engraved right on the part or product to produce raised or tactilely-detectable part marking. |

3D Probing & Surface Mapping for Marking Parts on Rounded Surfaces:
Datron’s optional, but integrated Z-Correction Probe recognizes irregular work-piece topography and compensates for it dynamically. It does this by taking measurements along the surface of a part and feeding that data into the machining controller. The controller automatically adjusts for uneven surfaces or part position. Through this process, job setup times are reduced and part marking is consistent. With the addition of the 3D Extension, the Z-Correction Probe locates parts and material irregularities in the X, Y, and Z co-ordinates, finds centers of holes and bosses, pre-measures parts before they are marked, compensates for material variations, feeds data into ISO 9000 information chain for quality control, and even allows for the reverse engineering of many parts. The omni-axis Renishaw TP20 probe is ideal for complex part marking such as engraving a logo or serial number onto a rounded surface. Ordinarily, 3D programming would be necessary to accommodate surface depth changes and ensure an even depth engraving. With the TP20, the surface is scanned and irregularities or surface changes are automatically managed in the machining data without 3-D programming. The TP20 features a 6-way, kinematic, touch-trigger probe system to significantly improve part marking cycle times. |
