Datron machining centers are designed and produced in Germany leveraging our company's 35-year track record as a leading technology firm. From our origins in both electronics and software, we have pioneered high-speed micro-machining with advancements like our 60,000 RPM Spindle, 3D Probing, Ethanol-Mist Coolant System, Low-Power Technology, IT-Smart Components, Tool Management (vs. Tool Detection) and Workflow Integration.
When comparing CNC machines, it’s not always an apples-to-apples scenario. Just like you’d never see George Foreman vs. Oscar de la Hoya on the “Tale of the Tape”, a CNC machine intended to muscle through dense substrates with durable large tools should never be compared to machines intended for high-speed, micro-tooling. But, certain vendors try to be everything to everyone. And, some makers of large-tool CNC machines tout the added capability of being able to run small micro tools. And they can. But, if you manufacture mostly small parts, this website should prevent you from paying for weight and bulk that you simply don’t need.

M8
|
|
|
This model puts the versatility in high-speed machining. When close tolerances and optimized cycle times are a necessity, the DATRON M8 is perfect.
A water-chilled 60,000 rpm spindle and an optional laser calibrated guidance system insures tight tolerances and high accuracies over a large 40.16" x 31.50" working area. In high-volume production where seconds off a cycle time can make the difference in meeting production demands, the value of the DATRON M8 is very easily justified.
This system is ideal for military, aerospace and medical industries. Plus, with spindle runout of less than 5 microns, this machine is the clear choice for micro-drilling applications.

The M8 is a five-axis trunnion machining center that can access five sides of a part, and complete the part in a single set-up. According to Datron, the 5-axis M8 is ideal for producing medical components, aerospace parts and electro-mechanical parts. In conjunction with 5-axis capabilities, Datron also offers a robotic interface and a pick and place system for automated manufacturing.
The M8 high-speed machining center features a steel bridge reinforced with polymer concrete for superior stability and support for heavier spindles. Spindle options include a 2kW (2 ¾ hp), water-chilled 60,000 RPM spindle and a 3kW, 40,000 rpm, HSK-E 25 spindle. Automatic tool change options include up to 30-tool "station-style" rack with tool- length sensor for the 2kW spindle and up to a 22-tool changer for the 3kw spindle. A stabilized gantry, integrated pneumatically covered tool magazine, LCD flat-panel display, polycarbonate side windows and a removable chip cart on wheels are just a few extra features that distinguish the M8. The M8’s vibration-dampening concrete polymer machine table can be ordered with a 36” knock-out as a free option. The Microsoft® Windows®-based controller works with virtually any CAD/CAM software and offers Ethernet networking capability, as well as remote monitoring and control, allowing the machine to seamlessly integrate into any manufacturing environment.

5-axis CNC machining & automation
The DATRON CNC machining cell "ProfitCell" is a highly cost-effective complete solution for 5-axes machining. For the first time DATRON has combined a high-precision milling machine and an automatic workpiece changer into a compact unit. The advantages of this combination are that very little floor space is required, effective interaction between all components is ensured and the unit is a real bargain. The highly precise rotary/swivel axis has a work area of 360 degrees in the B-axis and +/- 100 degrees in the A-axis. Workpiece supports are inserted in the rotary/swivel axis with a precise zero-point clamp. The integrated workpiece magazine offers up to 50 workpiece places. Up to 9 different programs can be processed one after the other automatically. 5-side complete machining in a single setup without re-clamping results in very high form and position tolerances and a higher manufacturing quality. With automated NON-STOP production, your investment in DATRON's ProfitCell will pay off fast!

The ability to view or write new programs during machining, run other software simultaneously as a machine is milling or download large files through a company network, are just a few examples of the dynamic capabilities of Datron’s Microsoft® Windows®-based control software. Additionally, via a standard Internet connection, a user can remotely diagnosis the machine or monitor the machine’s activity ... anytime, anyplace. A report function allows a user to ask questions or report problems by simply typing a message in a dialogue box, and sends the report via e-mail to a Datron service specialist directly from their machine. This report includes all the error message files, system files and .ini files from the machine, which allows Datron service specialists make a diagnosis and quickly provide a solution.
